Barnwell – Reverend Perry Alfred Still, 88 years of age, went to be with his Lord February 22, 2020 surrounded by his family in the Aiken Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 2 pm at the Dyches Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Harry Warren, Reverend Mike Reid, Reverend Joe Wilburn, and Reverend Ted Still officiating. Burial will follow at Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Barnwell, SC. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Dyches Funeral Home. Pall Bearers will be – Jeremy Wall, Justin Wall, Kevin Wall, Darren Towne, Steve Morris, Brice Smith and Houston Towne. Honorary Pall Bearers Austin Morris, Garrison Morris, Jared Towne, Parker Wall, Fate Wall and Paxton Wall.
Reverend Still was born to Franklin and Susie Still of Barnwell, SC. He married Laverna Still, “the love of this life”, on August 8th, 1948. They were married for 67 years. He retired from Milliken after 25 years. Reverend Still went into full time ministry after his retirement. He was a farmer and gardener at heart. He preached at Ashleigh Baptist Church for 37 years. He was Interim Pastor at Mt. Olivet for 6 years.
He is survived by his children Shirley (Butch) Widener of Blackville, Linda (Hayne) Towne of Barnwell, Lavonne Wall Gatlin of Florence, Alabama, Billy (Anne) Still of Ehrhardt. His grandchildren Steve Morris, Dickie Widener, Ken Widener, Lynn Burn, Darren Towne, Jeremy Wall, Justin Wall, Kevin Wall, Lori Still, and Pam Schmidt. He has 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He has two brothers Marion Still of Hilda, and Johnny Still of Denmark.
He is predeceased by his wife, Laverna Still and two brothers, infant Billy Still, and Cecil Still; one sister infant Miriam Still; and one grandson, Joey Morris.
