Franklin D. Owens

FullSizeRender (3)Augusta, GA – Franklin D. Owens, 83 went to be with his Lord May 9, 2016. A graveside service will be held at Eleven a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 with the Rev. Nathan Dean officiating at Hillcrest Cemetery, Augusta, GA with Military Honors. Visitation from 5 to 7 on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory, Barnwell, SC.
He was born in Aiken County, March 3, 1933 to the late Gilmore S. Owens and Dora Mae Wilson. He served in the Armed Service in the Korean War. After 45 years in construction he retired to his garden. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by many. He loved gardening, sports and coon hunting.
Survivors include three daughters Debra (Wayne) Dolbec, Katy, TX, Frankie (Darren) Dasburg, Cary, NC, and Angela Sloan, Evans, GA. Two step-sons, Jim (Evelyn) Mashburn, Evans, GA and Len (Pat) Grimsley, Tuscaloosa, AL. Four Brothers, Bobby Owens, Blackville, Gene (Betty) Owens, Blackville, Joe Owens, Blackville and Jr. (Janice) Owens, Blackville. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He is predeceased by his wife of 46 years Bonnie Owens. One Brother, Oscar Owens and one Sister, Ernestine “Sis” Harriott.
The family has entrusted Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory with the arrangements.
