Barnwell – Oliver “Danny Boy” Daniel Chavis, Sr. 79, went to be with his Lord August 25, 2017. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 11 am at Green Branch Church cemetery, Barnwell, S.C., with the Rev. David Flanders officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory, Barnwell, SC.
Danny was born in Orangeburg on May 31, 1938 to the late William Chavis and Daisy Roland. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and will be missed by many. He was a brick mason and logger for most of his life. He liked to spend time with his church family at church and at home.
He is survived by his wife Annette Chavis of the home. Two children, Danelle (Fred) Lewis of Pennsylvania, Oliver (Stephanie) Chavis, Jr of Barnwell. Three brothers, David Chavis, Sr. of Elko, Frank (Patsy) Chavis of Hilda, Emmett Chavis of Hilda. Four sisters, Caroline (Bobby Jean) Hudson of Blackville, Betty Jo Chavis of Anderson, Delma Sanders of Hilda and Alice Fay Owens of Hilda. Seven Grandchildren, Christopher Walker, Allen Walker, Heather Walker, Oliver Daniel Chavis III, Christopher Chavis, Zachary Chavis and Quentin Chavis and 13 Great Grandchildren.
He is predeceased by one daughter, Gina Driggers, two brothers, Benjamin Chavis, and Jerry Chavis. Two Sisters, Wilma New and Reba Grubbs.
The family has entrusted Dyches Funeral Home and Crematory with arrangements.
