Barnwell – Dessie Defee White, 102, went to be with her Heavenly Father September 28, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 2, at 11 am at the Dyches Funeral Home Chapel, Barnwell, SC officiated by Reverend Mark Watford and Reverend Billy Mew. A Graveside service will follow at Bethel Baptist Church at 4 pm, 1520 N. Jones Rd. Olanta, SC. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 1st from 5-8 pm at Dyches Funeral Home of Barnwell. Pall Bearers will be grandchildren
Dessie was born September 6, 1912 in Olanta, SC. She was the daughter of the late Allison Friendly Defee and Sue Ellen Smith. Dessie was the last of seven children
She was a homemaker and a member of Seven Pines Baptist Church of Snellings. She loved to sew and garden. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother. She will be missed by many.
Survivors of Mrs. White are Two daughters, Lyvonne Jackson of Barnwell, Hazel Sue (Garry) Anthony of Columbia, SC, one son, Robert Gene “Bob” White of Barnwell, Fifteen Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and 14 Great-Great Grandchildren.
She is Predeceased by her husband Stephen A. White, two Children Stephen Allen White and Virginia Cottrell.
Special mention of her loving caretakers, Diane Bodiford, Rebecca. Elmore, Ashley Sanders, Sheila Hamilton, Samuella Williams and Trinity Hospice of Aiken.
Memorial donations may be made to Seven Pines Baptist Church of Snellings, SC or the charity of ones choice.
The family will receive friends at the home of Lyvonne Jackson, 254 Royal Court, Barnwell, SC.
